Coffee Fest Announces Food Integration Lab Workshops

Coffee Fest is proud to unveil the NEW Food Integration Lab workshops to debut at Coffee Fest Anaheim September 30th– October 2nd, 2016. Now Coffee Retailers considering adding, implementing or augmenting food within their shop have a place to go and an opportunity to learn from experts. The NEW Food Integration Lab workshops are designed to educate attendees about what it takes to successfully add a culinary program to their coffee shop. Each three hour workshop will explore what it takes to be successful, and also things people wish they had known before getting started. Sessions will address the business side of creating a menu including, pricing, labor, cost of goods, initial investment and how to identify success in the endeavor. Additionally, the course will include equipment suggestions for producing exceptional food in the coffee shop setting. The three hours will finish by using these tools to produce dishes from the four day parts, breakfast, lunch, dinner & dessert, designed to educate and inspire you.

It wasn’t long ago that Coffee Fest produced a highly intensive three day seminar for those interested in opening a coffee retail business. The “Specialty Coffee Business Seminar” was produced form 1995 until 2008. During that time, our recommendation was “you’re a coffee shop, focus on coffee and be extremely cautious or stay away from food.” Back in the 1990’s and the early 2000’s most coffee retail concepts did not include food service or any type of culinary program. Times of course are ever changing and the coffee industry continues to evolve. Today at Coffee Fest, we believe that more often than not food service in the Coffee House is now a necessity for shop owners to remain competitive and profitable.
