Parkville Coffee is a gem located in a two-story shop downtown. It focuses on the sustainability of its coffees and providing patrons with food made from fresh, local ingredients.
The owner, Joshua Brock, opened the shop seven years ago during the recession. His intentions were not to own a coffee business, as he was just planning on helping a friend open a shop. However, the opportunity arose so he took it.
“I am so happy and grateful it all worked out,” said Brock, “Parkville and the people are supportive and loyal.”
The goal was to provide consistent hours, service and quality to the public. The shop started out by just selling coffee and drinks. As business picked up, demand for more than lattes and cappuccinos increased as well. It has evolved into a bakery and cafe in recent years. These changes helped evolve the quaint coffee shop into a thriving meeting place for people all over the northland.
Parkville Coffee offers a wide variety of coffee and tea drinks, fresh baked goods and seasonal breakfast and lunch items. Brock’s mission is to always freshly roast the coffee in store. Coffee is shipped to the shop from all over the world and fresh, local ingredients are used on a daily basis for the bakery.
Kevin Briody, a graphic design major at Park, has been a customer for years.
“Parkville Coffeehouse is genuinely a destination location here. Without it, I don’t think Parkville would feel 100 percent like home for me. It will always hold a special place in my heart,” said Briody.
